🚵‍♂️ 4-Day Bikepacking Adventure – Harrietville to Falls Creek Loop

Starting from Harrietville, Victoria, I rode up the steep climb to Mt Hotham, then crossed over to Mt Loch for the first night’s camp. The views across the Victorian Alps were incredible — especially the sight of Mt Feathertop, Victoria’s second-highest peak at 1,922 m.

🌩 Day 2 – Storms and Summits

I descended Machinery Spur, followed the West Kiewa logging road, and climbed the Mt Fainter Fire Trail, camping that night with a perfect view of Mt Bogong

— Victoria’s highest mountain at 1,986 m.
Just before dawn a huge thunderstorm rolled through — thunder echoing off the mountains and lightning lighting up the valley. Quite a wake-up call!

❄️ Day 3 – Over Mt Fainter
Climbing higher, I crossed the

Mt Fainter summit with more incredible alpine views. Deep snow made progress slow and tough — I lost the trail a few times but found it again with the map and pushed on toward Tawonga Huts. Arrived tired but happy, cooked dinner, and rested up for the final day.

🏔 Day 4 – Snow, Descents, and Home

Packed up early and rode toward Pretty Valley Pondage, crossing more unexpected snow patches before reaching Falls Creek. From there it was a fast, winding descent into

Mt Beauty, then the final climb over Tawonga Gap back to Harrietville.
A tough but amazing four-day loop — plenty of climbing, some hike-a-bike sections, and a few fallen trees near Tawonga Huts. Tired legs, but totally worth it.
Next up: heading to Bega, NSW, to explore the national parks along the southern coast — looking forward to the next ride and new landscapes ahead.
